BANGOR dog walkers are barking mad over a recent council dog enforcement poster campaign which they have decried as ´threatening´. Liam Logan, local resident and proud owner of three dogs, said a number of fellow dog owners had been incensed by the recent poster campaign.
Such has been the outrage felt by local dog owners, the Spectator understands, that some of the dog owners have removed the posters from various lamp posts.
The Spectator further understands the controversial poster bears a picture of a ´fearsome´ dog alongside the message that North Down Borough Council will be cracking down on irresponsible dog owners.
Mr Logan said, "It is unfortunate that the council chose a picture of a red eyed husky to publicise this campaign. The husky is a dog most closely related to the wolf and it conveys a rather menacing image of dog owners."
He called on the council to provide more dog waste bins to encourage responsible dog ownership, rather than spending public money on poster campaigns.
Speaking to the Spectator Mr Logan said, "The picture itself was threatening, a lot of dog owners and dog walkers were very upset."
