ROADS misery looks set to grip a key Bangor road for two months, the Spectator can reveal. For a busy Bangor West route will be hit by disruption - and a temporary road closure - as work to install sewers gets underway on Monday (8th).
The work means that for three to four weeks from March 22, a key section of Bryansburn Road will be closed to through traffic.
Signs are currently diverting traffic around roadworks in Crawfordsburn on to Bryansburn Road; it is likely this traffic will soon meet road closed signs and could cause traffic gridlock with drivers left with nowhere to go.
The news was met with dismay by local people, including traders and politicians, many of whom heard of it via notices dropped through their letterboxes or from the Spectator.
There is also concernthat the closure will affect commuters travelling via the well used Bangor West railway halt.
The Spectator can also reveal that motorists who live in the area may even have to do an about-turn on occasions to gain access to their homes, depending on the location of the roadworks. This could mean adding miles to their journey home.
