Canīt buy me love - but donīt let that stop you trying . . . .

THE Beatles once sang "Can´t buy me love," a sentiment which many couples may well rely on during this cash-strapped Valentine´s Day.

But does Feburary the 14th, the day which an estimated one billion cards are sent worldwide, signify an important event in the hearts of Bangor´s youth? We visited South Eastern Regional College (SERC)to find out.

First up for interrogation were Danielle Larmour, Annette Muckle and Hayley Johnson who all intend to go out on the night with their boyfriends. Danielle is hoping for flowers and Hayley for chocolates whilst Annette is the most optimistic of the bunch, aspiring for jewellery from her boyfriend.

We catch Gillian Espie as she tries to slip by unnoticed. Despite having no intention of sending a card this year she thinks romance is still very much alive and will not be affected by the recession.

Gillian would ideally like Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe to whisk her off for a romantic dinner this Valentine´s Day.
