Guns target a killer dog pack

A BLOODTHIRSTY pack of killer dogs is on the loose in rural Ards and is targeting timid farm animals in the countryside, it has been revealed this week.

The pet loves turned snarling beasts have slaughtered five sheep and injured 14 others in an ongoing reign of canine terror around the picturesque farmland of the borough.

Up to four dogs are believed to have ganged up to carry out the worst litany of sheep worrying attacks to have been carried on in the area for many years.

So brazen are the perpetrators that they have continued with their brutal onslaught even after one of them was shot by a farmer who was desperately trying to protect his flock.

It is believed that the injured dog returned to the killing fields after simply lying low for some considerable time to lick its wounds.

The string of attacks is also leaving local farmers with ever mounting veterinary bills as they get emergency treatment for their injured animals.

The latest incident occurred on land towards the outskirts of Ballywalter and resulted in multiple deaths and injuries among the targeted flock of sheep.
