Thugs batter and rob boys

‘A NIGHTMARE’ overnight camping expedition to an Ards beauty spot has left two teenage boys ‘totally traumatised’ after they fell victim to a terrifying and brutal gang attack.

The teenage victims were viciously assaulted after they were set upon by up to six violent young thugs when they set up camp for the night in scenic Scrabo Park in Newtownards.

The gang also trashed their campsite and made off with many of their belongings, even the very food they had brought with them for their summer night out under the stars.

Such was the extent of the beating they suffered that both victims had to be taken to hospital afterwards to be medically examined and treated for their painful injuries.

Thankfully both victims are now well on the road to recovery as the search for those who carried out the brutal attack upon them is continued by police investigators.

Meanwhile one of the area’s most prominent politicians has called for the culprits to be tracked down by the authorities and brought before the courts.

Strangford MP Jim Shanon said those involved should not be allowed to get away with the type of violent conduct which left two totally ‘innocent’ young victims in hospital.
