Not one, two, but three for Rory
FOUR ‘rollercoaster’ rounds of golf ultimately saw Holywood’s Rory McIlroy tie for third place in the Open Championship at St Andrews on Sunday and with it a cheque for £1/4 million.
The 21 year old superstar and his legions of fans experienced the ultimate highs and lows as he first looked like winning and then losing the lot, before clinching a shared top three spot.
Rory dramatically stormed into the lead and the international headlines on the opening day of the historic tournament on the scenic links course on the Scottish east coast last Thursday.
He equalled the lowest ever score of all time on the opening day of a golfing ‘Major’, shooting an amazing 63, nine strokes under the par for the course, eight of them in the last nine holes.
